I think once they left the Terran universe the tension dropped. Not in a bad way or anything though. The season finale was great. The Easter Egg at the end sold it for me. I was bouncing around on my bed like a child!
Spoiler When 'NCC 17-' started appearing on the monitor during the distress call scene, I was like "No... no... YESSSSSSSSSS!"
I'd convinced myself that maybe that wasa red herring, but... Spoiler when I heard Pike's name, I became rather animated and vocal! Travess
Two more episodes of Enterprise to watch and then I'm gonna restart discovery in a monster binge event! (also how good is enterprise, I cant belive I never bothered watching it back in the day!) Bring on the mirror universe!! I hope empress saito is mentioned!
Finally finished it, the 2nd half was definitely better than the 2nd. Also, who else figured out it was the other other other Manchurian candidate? Spoiler: shhhhhhhhhhhpoilerrrrrrrrs I also giggled when I saw that call sign come up. Although, I thought this was supposed to be pre-Pike and everyone...? Be interesting as to who they bring on now.
Finally got round to watching some of Discovery (7 espisodes so far). I love it. I like the fact that it's a bit more DS9 like, in that there is a darker side to some of the characters and not the happy, fluffy, everyone gets on really well with each other and are nice to kittens feel that TNG had a lot of the time. I'm not sure about the new look Klingons and the plot holes - the Spock had a 'sister', thing. It's kind of nice they tied it into some of the original characters, but I felt that was a bit of a step too far. I'm grumpy that they have the English actors speaking with American accents. Jason Isaacs is a Scouser by birth and I would just love to see him tell the Klingons to "Come 'ead" next time they are looking for a fight! Tilly is annoying, but growing on me. I like Michael, and the other characters seem reasonably well thought out. I will be watching the rest of the season this weekend.
