Forgive me if this is somehow impeding on some sort of unwritten code, this is my first post in H and F forum. I'm a noobie to weightlifting, I've never really had the... let us say, desire to remember all the tiny technical details of it. Hell, I hate making up my own routine. I prefer just following a tried and tested one. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drobson80.htm I stumbled upon this while looking up some ways to develop punching power. I know that my power is quite good. But I want to get it to the point where I can really emphasize it. I know my technique is good, I know how to get my whole body into it. But a little more can't hurt. Basically, I'm gonna cut the foreplay short and ask. Is that routine a good workout for reaching my goal of improved punching power? Other than bench-pressing to impress girls ( ) and clapping push-ups for explosiveness, I've never really done any severe upperbody workouts. Thanks in advance, and if this is a foolish question, please forgive me.
I wouldn't practice punching with dumbells in hand. I heard from someone on here that it doesn't help as the resitance is pushing downwards, not towards your body. I'd add some bigger lifts, too. Like deadlift, squat, and cleans. Punching isn't all in the arms. If your whole body is strong and explosive your punches will be so even more. While we're on the topic... Will punching and kicking underwater increase the speed of your strikes?

It should make a decent prog for 3-4 weeks. I'ld round it out with 1 or 2 oly lifts and some squats for each session. OR since its only twice per week on the off days I would lift heavy using something like Waterbury's Big Boy Basics
