It's 11 pm so I can't call anyone right now, but I am too impatient to wait until tomorrow.

Anyone know why this problem occurred (oh, and IF this gets resolved before anyone takes a peak at this....)

I'm vexed. Please tell me I've the site wrong....

    Cheers,

    DH

PS: Thanks in advance for any info.

If I am not mistaken, the USTU is now USA Tae Kwon Do. Type in "USA Tae Kwon Do" in Google and it should take you to the correct site.

The USTU was involved in financial impropriety scandals much like the WTF and did a housecleaning, including a namechange.

I don't believe it was due to a scandal or any impropriety.

USTU: USA Taekwondo Unveils New Name and Logo
Colorado Springs, CO….A spokesman for the United States Taekwondo Union recently announced that the national governing body for the martial sport has changed its name to USA Taekwondo, Inc.

"As we continue to increase our marketing efforts on behalf of
Tae Kwon Do athletes in the U.S., we felt it was necessary to modernize our image as an organization," said Bob Gambardella, Chief Executive Officer of USA Taekwondo. "An organization's name and logo are its most visible images. “

The new logo now incorporates the points of a star in the colors of the five Olympic rings to represent the five tenets of Tae Kwon Do: courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and indomitable spirit.
There has been early criticism of the logo by some members of the Tae Kwon Do community because of the inclusion of the Tenets, noting that they are part of the International Taekwon-Do Federation philosophy. Additionally, the Tenets are not acknowledged or practiced by those affiliated with the World Taekwondo Federation and the Kukkiwon whose style is practiced by members of the former USTU.

Some members of the newly renamed organization also have criticized that the name change is a violation of the USTU Articles of Incorporation that require a two-thirds majority vote of the Board of Governors for implementation. It was reported that there was no vote by the Board of Governors on the name change.

The Articles of Incorporation for USA Taekwondo, Inc. were filed in Colorado on November 5, 2004

Thanks, Gang. After posting the OP I did some searches and found the same...but I was impatient and knew you lots would come through. Alas, I've been proven right.

I guess I should keep my ears to the ground relating to US organisations, and the changes, now that it seems that I'm sticking around.

    Thanks for the extra links!

    Cheers,

I think this may be the new site... it has the Olympic Logo, and the 5 pointed star, etc. http://www.usa-taekwondo.us/

The domains ustu.org and usat.org have both expired, which means they're probably on registrar lock for a while so only the last owner can renew them until the lock expires.

Kwang-Gae's posted the link. The USTU is now USA Taekwondo-renamed to make the organization more in lock-step with the names of the other national governing sports bodies (i.e. USA Boxing, USA Basketball, etc.) in the U.S.

The name-change was not due to any financial impropriety although at the time of the name-change, the organization was being run by the USOC's appointed personnel. The USOC did threaten to withdraw it's financial support unless the USTU leadership at the time resign allegedly due to mismanagement.
