Honestly the best person i have ever trained with would either have to come done to my first sensi: Bill Young, or Ron Fagin
I like Paul Vunak, I have always wanted to train with him. My friend has trained with guru Dan Inosanto.
I have trained with -- Shaolin Grandmaster Sin Kwang The Shaolin Master Matt Small Shao-lin Master Steven Baugh ( student of Ark Wong ) Kenpo Master Al Farnsworth (a senior BB under Ed Parker) Kenpo BB under Skip Hancock- (a senior BB under Ed Parker) --John Monserrat David Masters - has 4 Black Belts & student of David German Marvin Beastman Eastman - The king if the cage -- trained 1 time and more...
studied under k.s. hyun in hapkido to 1st dan. the hyun lineage is (choi => jung yoon kim => hyun) main instructor during my time there: young k. cheun. studied aikido under art wise and walter van enck, the shidoin at midwest aikido center (originally founded by akira tohei). there are several instructors at the mac, but art and walter are the shidoin there. btw....if you're going to study aikido in chicago, go here. currently studying bjj under jay valko (black belt in bjj from eduardo de lima). some minor ones... have done aikido seminars with yoshimitsu yamada (in chicago and nyc), donovan waite (nyc) and yoshiaki yokota (from hombu). trained briefly with kevin choate at chicago aikikai and hollis barnett at chicago's judo/jiu jitsu institute.
I'm still blushing from Simon's comment. A difficult question. I've trained with a great number of people over the years, some have been famous, many have not. Some have been great technicians, others good fighters, others excellent teachers - I don't think I've ever met someone who was truly all three. I'm only going to list the ones I consider "the best" so there are a number of names not on my list. Some I only trained with once, just for a few hours, but I'm listing as they said or taught something that has stayed with me as important to the way I teach and train. The "famous" Hirokazu Kanazawa Roger Hall Ken Hassell Bill Burgar Pierre Chassang Terry Wingrove Rick Clark Steve Cattle Tony (Yanlon) Leung (Shi DeLon) The less well known John Tidder, Alan Prescott, Mark Peterson, Derek Ridgeway, Dave Tester, Brent Balfanz, Tony Torres Ultimately though, many of the best people I've trained with, I trained with them as my students. You develop and learn so much through the introspection teaching brings. Students say and do things that can make you tackle really important things. Because of that I'm going to list members of MAP that I can recall teaching and/or being taught by: RobertMap, Moosey, Atre, Llamageddon, Bassai, Fish of Doom, SimonS, Mitch, CosmicFish, Gary, Aegis, Sam, Sampsi, Sacket, Brixtonboidunwell, Southpaw535, Tommy2guns, AlanSmurf, Shoshinkan, Mike Flanagan, Kharmael
Neil McRitchie (My Sifu) Andrew Austin (my first teacher) Doc Fai Wong (Choy Li Fut and Taiji) Leigh Remedios (BJJ/MMA) Erik Paulson (CSW/STX) Yuan Xiugang (Wudang San Feng Pai) Also trained with Paul Burkinshaw (Hark Fu Mun) Denis Cummins (Hung Gar/ Kali) and various others who I've done bits and bobs with Famous people who I've been to seminars or done the odd private with Rigan Machado Greg Nelson Gini Lau Rick Faye Mark Weir Tony Sewell
The "Chinese wrestling king" Chang Tung Sheng. http://sites.google.com/site/mixedm...ang---undefeated-chinese-mixed-martial-artist http://www.youtube.com/v/wsakrgK0h6Y&fs=1&source=uds&autoplay=1

Seminars I don't like to name drop but here goes: William Chueng George Dillman Dan Inosanto Ajarn Chai Leon Jay George Kirby All at seminars with no long term relationship or instructor/teacher relationship.
Kathy Long, Bill Wallace, Joe Lewis, and Jhoon Rhee; I enjoyed training with all of these multiple times.
I met GSP once and had a couple awkward conversations with him in the changing room. I met lagarto too. He's really cool. I have a pic of him in ski googles looking like a numpty! I've also met a number of MAP members who have been really cool about training and sharing ideas and experiences with me. I've also trained and worked with a couple of head coaches and sport organisation in Scotland, they all seem to have a similar appearance and personality despite the different sports: Stocky and grey haired
