I am sorry guys I didn’t want to offend anyone.. My apologies! I just don’t understand why a style with limited techniques like Shotokan can be...light (?)
Wait until Sam pokes her head in here and sees that her olive branch was chewed up, spit out, and burned! I got my spot on the couch riiiiiiiight....... Now!
hhhms i been meaning to go cross train, i was thinking shotokan, i got approched by a GKR rep. i told them where to stick it. but allso i thought of chinese kickboxing, i should go give each a try. and BJJ too, exept GKR but from the look of them they ain't half bad. However it's what i've heard that worries me.
learn aspects of karate that one style teaches that yours doesn't, thats like asking why ITF TKD people go on to also do WTF getting a more rounded understanding. :Alien:
Wado Ryu: Took it up as a teenager and got to green belt, TBH I never quite connected; quit at 17. Shotokan: Whilst I was at Uni; made brown belt, lost my mojo and quit at 26. Seiki Juku: found it at 40, AND I LOVE IT! It's probably nearest to Kyokushin in syllabus. (Unfortunately not training at the moment, as I had a knee op three weeks ago; started back at gym yesterday and plan to train this month.)
