Western and eastern sword comparisons

    1997 Kyoto at least - looking at the player list he was GB5. Possibly other ones of course.

    Post 190 shows Gerry kincaid who trained at the makotokai aikido riai with me for a number of years. His kendo training was with my other good friend John hepburn 6th dan kendo who was another member of the BKT.

    John also attempted aikido riai training but was "advised" by me to take up kendo because of his "temper.":)

    We shared a flat for a number of years.

    I would take the members of the Makotokai to crosstrain at the Bellahouston kendo club.


    They were kind enough to commend our spirit although our sword technique.."Was a cross betwean lobsters mating and helicopters crashing."

    below John on left Gerry on right.On the rght a poster for the aiki ken at an IKET international kendo embu and taikai. Where numerous weapons arts would be demonstrated and crosstraining classes given.These were hosted by the Endinburgh Kendo club.
