    HOLY COW!

McGregor bt. Siver by TKO (R2).

With a performance like that, no wonder he's fast becoming THE star of MMA. Damn. He mauled Siver like it was nothing.

While it was impressive, i am not sure it's enough to beat Aldo.

I think he's certainly got the right combination of attributes to present a real challenge for Aldo. I think crucially he has heavy hands which could well be the decisive factor.
Really enjoyed Cerrone vs Henderson. Very impressed with the power upgrade in Henderson 's kicking. Felt bad for him with the decision but was impressed with his attitude.

    ^ Agree.

Always admired Henderson as a person and respect him even more so after his response to last night's outcome.

While i can see that, his boxing is pretty rudimentary, his footwork is excellent and his kicks come out of void a lot of the time, but the real story of that fight was Siver, who has never really been a killer of any note, was eating that left hand like he was at a free all you can eat knuckle sandwich buffet, i honestly believe that Aldo will have a much better time avoiding those shots, and getting inside and chipping away at Conor, using his uppercuts, knees and body hooks, all of which are power shots for Aldo, also, i do really wonder what such a vicious leg kicker would do to Mcgregor's rhythm, granted, if Aldo loses, i won't be in the least disappointed, i just wouldn't put money down on it.

As for Cerrone vs Henderson, yeah, i honestly felt Benson won, but it was in such a marginal fashion that i can't really complain, besides, the cowboy is a trooper for stepping in the ring against a dude like that with a little over a fortnight to rest after the beating he put on Jury.

Doesn’t the guy have to beat a decent top 5 guy before getting a shot at aldo? Someone like mendes, edgar lamas who actually have power and a wrestling game?
He has fought 1 top ten guy Poirer, and looked good against a barely top ten guy who hasn’t knocked anyone out since 2009 or got a submission since 2010 any who hasn’t finished anyone since moving to featherweight
The UFC seem to have fed him stand up guys not known for their power or knock out skill WHO as also without any noted wrestling abilities

Why is McGregor being shielded from wrestlers?

When was the last time someone actually cleaned out their division before getting a title shot?

Whose talking about cleaning the division? I'm talking about facing a single top5 fighter before getting a shot at the champ?

I think it's more to do with Aldo than him tbh. I don't think anyone's that interested in seeing a rematch with Edgar and everyone else has either lost to Aldo fairly recently or is coming off a loss. I agree that in a perfect world he should have to fight Edgar or Mendes before Aldo, but then who's Aldo going to fight?

16/4/2005 or 4/16/2005 if you use the north american system.

So I finally watched Conor and Siver. The following things I suspected would be a problem for Conor were shown to be true. Siver was able to kick Conor's legs pretty much with impunity. And Siver was able to shoot on him. Siver is not a specialist in either of these things. What this says to me is this:

    1. If Aldo kicks Conor's legs in that straight upright stance of his Conor is going to be in a lot of pain.

    2. If Conor faces a real wrestler like Edgar or Mendes, he will be on his back. Siver is not a wrestler and while yes Conor did get up, it won't be that easy against a seasoned wrestler.

I currently feel that Conor would have to get a fortunate shot to beat Aldo, and even if he does, he will lose to Edgar or Mendez.

That is actually pretty true though, after Mcgregor, Aldo has beaten pretty much the whole of the top 10 in the division. (or beaten someone who has beaten them convincingly)

My meaning being, warn't that the expected path to a title shot at some point in the past? Wins against division notables and at least a gatekeeper or two?

    UFC BS? (Before Sonnen)

    Mod Note

A reminder about spoilers: They are mandatory until 24 hours after the event. That includes talking about things that quite obviously suggest what the results were.

ie, talking about cleaning out a division before getting a title shot is clearly talking about Mcgregor and the fact its being discussed means its obvious he won.

I've spoiler tagged all the posts before this one and its a pain in the butt to do for multiple posts so please don't make me keep doing it :)

Booo...I thought it was amazing when the aliens landed right in the octagon and McGregor and Siver put aside their differences and stood back to back to fight them off and save the planet.

Yeah, and who knew Herb Dean was that good with a chainsaw, he put Bruce Campbell to shame.

What most got me was when Dana White's head split open and there was a little alien in there and he's actually been an alien scout sent to survey the earth for potential DNA mining. Great night of fights.
