Here are my picks for kicks: Here is the line on the fights. What do you guys think of the way they do it?

    Main card:
    Brock Lesnar (5-1) -155 vs. Cain Velasquez (8-0) +125
    Jake Shields (25-4-1) -260 vs. Martin Kampmann (17-3) +210
Paulo Thiago (13-2) -130 vs. Diego Sanchez (21-4) EVEN
    Matt Hamill (9-2) -175 vs. Tito Ortiz (15-7-1) +145
    Gabriel Gonzaga (11-5) -200 vs. Brendan Schaub (6-1) +160

    On Spike
    Court McGee (10-1) -260 vs. Ryan Jensen (15-6) +200
    Patrick Cote (13-6) -175 vs. Tom Lawlor (6-3) +145

    Preliminary card:
    Daniel Roberts (10-1) -155 vs. Mike Guymon (12-3-1) +125
    Sam Stout (15-6-1) -165 vs. Paul Taylor (10-5-1) +145
    Dongi Yang (9-0) -150 vs. Chris Camozzi (13-3) +120
    Jon Madsen (6-0) -225 vs. Gilbert Yvel (36-15-1) +175
Unlike football as basketball where there are point spreads (ex. -7, +13.5) MMA fights have odds which are called moneylines. A moneyline is basically a way for the sportsbooks to even out the betting public. For example if Brock Lesnar was fighting a no name guy in his first fight, Lesnar would be a HUGE favorite, probably around -4400 or so (44 to 1).

So here is an actual example from a UFC fight, that will explain the odds a bit better.
    Tito Ortiz (-140)
    Rashad Evans (+120)

In this matchup, Tito is the favorite at -140. This means that for every $1.40 you bet, you win $1. So if you were to bet $140 on Tito, you’d win $100 (profit) if he is victorious.
Rashad is the underdog in this match at +120. This means that for every $1 you bet, you will win $1.2o. So if you bet $100 on Rashad, and he wins, you will win $120 (profit).

The moneylines on UFC fights will often change with the amount of money coming in on each side. If a bunch of money is coming in on one side, the sportsbook will adjust the moneyline to even out the action and get bettors betting on the other fighter. With that said, whatever the odds are when you place your bet, is the odds you get. They don’t change like in horse racing.

    Thanks,
    Tom

wow, what a damn good fight.

Valazques vs lesner: great performance by cain. the second that he snuffed brocks initial takedown, and then stood back up after being taken down i knew this was gonna be his victory. especially with how bad Lesners standup looked. though it did look like the ref stopped a little early. Not to mention the fact that cain beat him after he made insulting comments about his heritage in hispanic heritage month just adds insult to injury.

jake shields: he should have deffinitly lost. hell, he did lose. i guess they'lle do whatever they can to have him fight GSP.

Hamil vs ortiz: hey ill do anything to see tito leave the UFC. i just hope this loss will add to that. true he is skillful. but hes starting to get worse, and hamil was completely superior.

diago sanchez vs paulo thiago: in my mind the most entertaining fight of the night. cutos to sanchez for that amazing slam.

Dana said Lesnar verbally submitted which may or may not be true but either way great fight to finish the night (morning?) I seriously underestimated Cain's wrestling not something I'll do again. Been a while since I looked but is Dos Santos the no1 contender?

Jake shields deserved the win looking at it from a judges' perspective. To me it was down to the third and Shields spent the last of it out grappling Kampmann but thats what he gets for not standing back up and kneeing him in the face again. That said one of those judges was **** poor I don't see how you could score all three to shields and one of the other decisions, i think the Sanchez fight, had a pretty crappy one as well.

Ortiz is past it now I think, we're in the passing of the torch stage in the ufc it seems with the guys who got me into mma passing on and tito needs to do that soon. People like Hughes are still putting together impressive performances but Tito is just looking worse these days. Lackluster against Forrest and the same last night with Hamill.

Speaking of which this is a stupid question but while I love Hamil probably just because he's deaf why does being deaf make him being a fighter such a big story to the extent of having a film about him? I know nothin about deafness so does it make his balance messed up or something?

The Thiago v Sanchez fight was easily fight of the night I loved it. Good to see Sanchez on the comeback but Thiago put up a fight.

Well PASmith we were both wrong about Gonzo. I was wrong about Tito, I thoght he would win on experience. I shoulda bet on Cain though.

    Thanks,
    Tom

I am downright overjoyed that Velasquez ended Lesnar's reign. There is no way he shoulda ever been ranked #1 but with all the promotional barriers it was next to impossible to have all the top guys fighting each other in the HW division. Ok hardcore rant aside.

    Tito is done. Nuff said.
Diego vs. Thiago was awesome. I was really rooting for Thiago but Diego deserved the win with all the work he put on Thiago. The most entertaining fight besides the demolition of Lesnar.

Shields did in fact deserve that win. He gassed but Kampmann couldn't take advantage and kept on losing position despite Shields being gassed and dazed from 2 knees. Otherwise Kampmann has no one to blame but himself. He's a good grappler but he shoulda created separation and let his hands go. Despite his knees he was being schooled by Shields the entire fight.

Gonzaga really needs to quit trying to be a striker and learn how to take guys down to work his jitz. Otherwise the path is clear on how to beat him. Just be faster at striking and more accurate. I don't even think Gonzaga is a legit gatekeeper anymore.
