I didn't particularly like either one but this looks kind of awesome. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rgZKACO18g"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rgZKACO18g[/ame]
They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel there. I liked both The Ring and The Grudge and the US versions were ok too (I know you're not allowed to like US remakes of films but...). But I am a bit confused why you would think this looks good if you didn't like the films. Off topic: I saw quite a good Thai horror film not long ago called Shutter. Very similar feel to the Korean and Japanese stuff, but nice to see different locations and that. And yep, there's a US version too.
Horror films aren't really my jam. I find a lot of them just plain boring. Most of the new horror films just go for gore rather than genuine scares if that makes any sense. That's the problem I had with the grudge and ring movies as well. This one looks like it's going to be a lot more fun than the other two.
Yeah, it totally makes sense. As a big horror film fan I'd agree with you to a point, but I think there's been a bit of a backlash to splatter and torture porn films over the past few years. There's a lot of films that have gone for the spooky, weird or psychological instead of buckets of blood...It's definitely needed as things were getting boring, highly repetitive and very silly. Babadook (psychological) is one such film that has been a bit of a success, Sleep Tight (a creepy creeper) is another that springs to mind. Ghosts, possessions and haunted houses are very in at the moment. They're still not scary though, I think you'd be hard pushed to find any film that scares you if you are over the age of 8. Dr. Who...Davros..1980s...that was scary!!
