I had hoped it was a hoax, but CNN is saying it is true. David Bowie has passed away. Bowie had passed mere musician/ rock star status and is a true legend.

I can't even say I am a die hard fan. I like his biggest hits, but those do it for me. But I recognize he was a genius who was very influential in a way few musicians are. And you just don't grow up in the 80's without Bowie being a part of the cultural landscape in a huge way.

I enjoyed his movies. And he gave one of my favorite musicians his big break. I was introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughan due to his affiliation with Bowie.

This is truly a sad time.

If I feel this bad, not being a huge fan, I can't imagine how bad my many old friends, who ARE DIEHARD fans, feel right now.

It isn't often that I get upset over the death of a celebrity - someone I don't know personally and would never, ever meet in just about any given circumstance, but this has bummed me out.

I know he was SO much more than The Goblin King, but "Labyrinth" was one of my "go to movies" growing up, and remains one of my favourite movies ever.

    RIP.

Ι feel the exact same way. He was a legend!!
A very talented and unique person. I always respected the sexual ambiguity image he projected.
He could be a handsome male in one cover of a cd or in a concert and a beautiful woman next time he showed up. He seemed to be free!

I just love some of his songs. Space oddity, The man who sold the world, Cat People, Lady grinning soul... So many great, different and beautiful songs.

Even though I'm not really a huge fan. I appreciated what he did for music. May he R.I.P.

Likewise, he seemed like such a larger than life figure in the world of music. Sad to see that no-one's actually larger than life.

Very sad indeed. Bowie was more than a singer, musician or whatever, he was an Artist and an innovator. He was making videos a decade before videos would become common. His musical sound would change every few albums, but always sounded cool. Not many others, if anyone, you could compare to Bowie. Thanks for all the great music, Rest in peace.
