NK - yeah the phrase 'nappy headed' coming from a white person would be considered a racial slur in most cases. Interestingly enough - when used by a black person... it wouldn't. It's part of the highly charged lexicon of race relations language in the US. That the guy on top of that used it as 'nappy headed hoes' is total playing with matches by the powder keg. Guaranteed to cause all sorts of problems. You're thinking of the word 'nappy' as in what most Americans would call a diaper...
I honestly don't see the racism there. I see him calling the Rutgers Women's Team trashy and ugly, but I don't see any racism.
I can see how it can be seen as racism. Nappy-headed is tantamount to calling someone negro, nigger or any other rascist slur. It's loaded language without a doubt. The same way calling an aborignal an 'abbo' or a Tongan or a Maori a 'polly' can be construed as rascist when coming from a white person.

Don Imus is a radio show commenator... not a politician... he doesn't hold public office.. he's an on-air personality. So maybe in that light it's not a big deal. Your thoughts?
I think it is way overblown. He should not be fired. He was making a joke, perhaps a bad one, a non funny one, but a joke. Firing him would only promote cenership even more. Why is it Ludacrist wins a grammy for saying the same stuff, only worse, but Imus gets suspended and might lose his job over it?
