Bartitsu was founded in London in 1899 as a combination of jujitsu, savate, boxing and stick fighting, promoted as the "gentlemanly art of self defense". It was almost forgotten throughout the 20th century, except for a single cryptic reference in one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories.
lol, the holmes movie inspired my own research into his martial arts style too. If you want to take a few hours, the story is actually pretty interesting. I'll be mildly interested in this documentary.
