    mon 02/june
    shoulders/upper body feeling sore after sunday's push hands and general work fatigue after a couple of months timber framing.
    Kept up with some gardening at home after work;mowing,hoeing,weeding etc.(veggies coming along nicely :) ) and later walked dogs,2m.

    You more'n held your own, sounds like. Especially as you're being your own conditioning coach - so hard to push oneself to that just-above-your-limit envelope on a consistent basis that you need.

    But you're doing it! Congrads.

    We met at the MAP meet last year - any chance of PM-ing me as I want to ask a question about TC in our area. (I haven't posted enough to be able to send messages :) (

    sorry mate,I tried to pm you but it wont let me,probably same reason you can't pm me ! you can leave a message on my home page or post a question in the TC forum though(or do a bit more posting to access the pm facility-you could also try asking one of the mods nicely since you've been around a while and are an ex-mapmeeter ! ;) )

    usual training partner busy so I tagged along with my daughters class for warm up,stretches ,kicks,did some hand and then staff and broadsword forms.

    Running with the dogs sounds awesome. I tried to get our mini bull terrierist to run with me, but he's a bit ADHD, it was a bit of a disaster. He'll sprint (that little guy can really shift), but not jog along calmly. He gets bored and attacks my laces!

    We did go boating the other day, I thought it would be some good cardio. I did all the work though and he hated it (the boating, not me doing all the work)!

    What a blast from the past! I forgot about Gnasher. But he's an Abyssinian Wire-Haired Tripe Hound! :)

    There's not that many MBTs around. They're just the same as a standard but shrank to about the size of a Staffy. Bit more feisty and mischievous though than the standard due to the added terrier in them. Half the size, twice the trouble!

    run with dogs,3m,local bridleway near my dad's.Found a few different routes now which keeps it interesting, all cross country/off road.

    I think I'm going to spare myself the laborious task of detailing the minutiae of my training(and those who make the effort to read this log,the probable tedium of reading it; run 2m,skip 10 mins, blah blah blah...).
    Instead I'll save posting here for anything of interest extra to my normal routine and stuff that I want to log for my own record.
    I hope I'm right in thinking I no longer need the 'power of the log' to give me
    the incentive to maintain my current activity level and I think,in terms of
    readable content,less is more.
    I will of course still be looking over everyone else's shoulder to see what they're up to as this is by far the most interesting section on MAP ;)

    Last couple of weeks has been the usual daily running (average 2m's),
    combined with a slightly reduced mix of strength/cardio exercises on alternate non-class days;my home training has been more focused on my taiji forms, stretching and general flexibility.

    On saturday I met up with an old sparring partner back after an injury,so,
    after some rolling arm drills and free chi sao,we dusted the gloves off.
    We were joined by my regular weekend training buddy and had a mini round robin,trying to keep it structured and work in our techniques,I was pleased that my cardio was up to scratch and enjoyed giving and taking a few shots.

    Looking ahead my aims are to re-assess my my weights programme (which has been on hold) by finishing reading starting strength and creating a more progressive approach and to make some extra training time at the start of the day (for a more intensive flexibility routine,which was one of my original goals in this log) which , if introduced now,should be easier to carry through
    to the shorter days later in the year.

    Just been running and doing regular classes this week,I seem to have a lot of balls in the air with familly,work etc at the moment.

    On sunday I went with my middle daughter to a WC training day run by
    Brian Desir of East Anglia Wing Chun Athletic, an old friend of my sifu with direct lineage to Ip chun ,also an old student of Austin Goh
    Working in pairs we covered(amongst other things) a mix of kick blocks/takedowns to inside and outside, applications from all forms against different combinations, rolling arm drills,structured and free chi sao , padwork then sparring.
    A good day and an enjoyable chance to meet and cross hands with some new(and a few old)faces.
