Well, I dunno, some people get attached to their equipment. I know a lot of people who wouldn't dream of loaning someone one of their belts, and those are a lot more hygenic to lend out than mitts (I'd have thought anyway). Martial artists can get very protective about their equipment, especially if they've customised their gloves with weights or barbed wire.
Well it seems we're looking at a date in late Nov - a weekend I would have thought would be best. So maybe we could provisionally say November 28th?
bassai you got mats or did you say you need some? if so how many areas do you guys want? and how big do you normally have 5x5, 6x6 or 8x8
Mats is a good point and something I didn't consider! Times: 11am till whenever? How long do these things usually go on for? Well if we're ok with the venue and the date, I suppose the next thing to think about is getting there and any publicity we may want. Obviously this isn't going to be an open thing, but does anyone think it would be worth making it a sticky here and/or putting it in events/event promotion? As for transport I'm sure we can all make it to Brum somehow, but didn't you say it's not the simplest of places to get to Bassai? Did you say there was a bus? Perhaps we could car pool from various areas? Anyway I guess this is a concern for closer to the time.
might i suggest you make groin guards compulsory? otherwise the comp might end with alot of squeaky voiced big strong karate-ka
A lot of tournaments have given serious thought to making groin guards compulsory but they always hit the same snag - does the referee have to wander round and squeeze your crotch to check? That's why they're "recommended" in most tournaments but not exactly compulsory. If someone wants to risk their nuts, fair play to them!
Ok well if mats are needed and I can do that date I'll bring a mini bus then and I can collect people on the way to bassai's place So anyone around Cardiff to Birmingham route (i can detour a little) pipe up
