out of the frying pan into the fire? I don't know if much that sounds worse than Rocky mountain spotted fever I hope the sinus infection clears up quick
My MD gave me meds to take, I should be good early next week, which is good, since I am on a plane Sunday going on vacation for the week..... and I am the designated luggage barer and chauffer....at least that is what my wife tells me ......so I need to be healthy
Was sent to an Infectious disease specialist by my MD because I was still not feeling better.... it appears that when I was diagnosed with "Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever" I did not have Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I do however have the antibodies for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. This means that when I had the blood test they saw the antibodies not the actual infection. Also I was missing 2 key symptoms of the fever; a high fever and a red rash. However having the antibodies means that sometime in my past I did have Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and per the specialist, it is generally fatal if left untreated. But a few do survive.... the specialist then told me "congratulations, you survived. " I have had many fevers in my life so it could have been any time, but since I was never diagnosed with it, or treated for it, and have the antibodies for it...... apparently one of those times I was more sick that I knew I was, and could have died. Ignorance is bliss I guess. Also the mono exposure was likely Lyme's disease. But the long period of time I was on the Doxycycline killed that off. Also most of the stomach upset I have been dealing with regularly is from the Doxycycline. The specialist told me to stop taking it immediately and less than 24 hours later, my stomach feels fine. As for feeling lousy most of the time, I am beginning to believe it is my diet. I spent at least a year as an "almost vegetarian" and I felt great, lost weight, was kicked out of my cardiologists office for being to healthy, but got tired of all sorts of people telling me I needed more protein, my diet was not a healthy one, so I went back to my carnivorous ways and have been there for awhile now. Well that is what got me to the healthy specimen I am today so...the heck with those folks...I'm going back to being an "almost vegetarian" and see how I feel.
If you do a vegetarian or pescatarian diet properly, there is no reason at all that you should lack protein. Lots of veg is high in protein and it tends to be good for other reasons too, so chow down on the leafy greens and brassicas. Add the grain and pulse combinations for complete amino acid chains and you'll be fine, so falafel and pitta, beans on toast, humous and any bread. It's almost like people had figured out these combinations years ago Add eggs and you are well on your way. Add fish and you can easily exceed protein requirements, and we haven't even got to dairy yet. Cheese. Oh my God CHEESE! But if you are going to be "almost" veggie do it properly and get a good veggie cookbook that balances nutrients, not just flavours.
My wife is pescatarian, so I am pretty much the same most of the time. Easy to get enough protein as a pescatarian or vegetarian. If you feel better for it definitely go with it. For me it definitely helps with structured meals, plenty of veg.
My partner is an ex vegan, so we eat lots of vegetarian food, lots of fish, milk and eggs, and a few times a week we eat good quality meat. However its really important to note: its not the same with babies and young children, they have different nutritional needs to adults. There is a big modern trend to try and raise children as vegans, which can be extremely bad for them, if in doubt seek the advice of a qualified dietician.
In a college I took 8 credits of anatomy and physiology (actually got an A in it too) and the prof said on many occasions that is it not good to limit fat intake in young children. They need fat because that is how they develop their central nervous system. So raising children as Vegan or vegetarians for that matter, is a very bad thing
Yep, plus babies don't need fibre, theyre stomachs are so small they need nutrient dense food/milk, plus theyre need for high levels of protein/calcium without fibre. And if they're not exposed to a wide range of foods they can develop allergies.
