So I learnt to kick using the kickboxing kick - turning the base leg as much as possible and generating power through rotation, with a bent leg that straightens out. I've been out of training for ages and I decided to go to Thailand to learn MT. I've realised that although they look similar, the subtleties really change how you kick. In MT, you don't bend your leg as much and move onto the balls of your foot of your base leg.
