Forced myself into going to yoga. I was surprised at how my flexibility has not deteriorated. The main problem was trying to not have a panic attack.
Forced myself to 'Mysore' ashtanga yoga tonight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mysore_style It was difficult mentally and physically...
Just a short walk today. Ate far too many carbs. I'll try to not drink any alcohol tonight and go to yoga tomorrow.
'Mateusz M' has a great motivational channel on YouTube. I spend the first 15-20 minutes of every day watching/listening to his videos in a sort of daily affirmation ritual. Give it a try mate. This is one of his gems: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-jwWYX7Jlo[/ame]
A guy from work used some medication to quit. Don't know much about it but apparently it makes you feel ill (like nausea) if you smoke. I'm pretty sure he got it through the NHS. It worked and he's still off them, however he has put on about 15kg. If you're really determined to quit it might be something to look into.
No, he should not try this medication while he is still drinking. Those drugs are dangerous to mix with alcohol, aren't they?
There's a couple. Zyban and Champix are the ones I know. I tried Champix - didn't work for me. I reduced my smoking but they didn't make me stop. I know people who have quit on Champix though. Avoid Champix like the plague (I can't speak for Zyban), it can cause black outs, panic attacks, serious depression and.....make you very suicidal. A friend of my girlfriends had a black out while driving, thankfully she was just starting to pull out into the road after dropping her kids at school and was going about 5 km an hour. I wouldn't bother mate.
Ah maybe. I'm sure there's a medication that works the same way for alcohol too. Separating cigarettes and alcohol is like separating strawberries and cream.
Wow, the possible side effects sound awful. That's the thing I guess with medications, they can be a double edge sword. I still hit a few roll ups now and again. Since the smoking bans I've been able to control my smoking habit pretty well. I know it's not ideal.. But when I have stopped in the past, it's always the parts where I socialise and have a drink that I just like to partake. Old habits die hard!!
I was thinking to post a couple vids in that bodyweight thread.. But what the hey I think I'll post them here if that's ok. Aaradia is watching so I better say something So I have been trying to re invigorate my training for the summer, as you do. I've gotten a liking for Yoga lately and been trying some poses out, doing a little research. It's a great base and has a great deal in common with IMA. But following on from that there's the following 'stuff'. The first is more strength based and fairly traditional in that I understand this kind of training is Typical of Indian wrestling culture. Something I also think fits and integrates nicely with Yoga. The other one I would say is more movement based, more functional and more to do with martial movement; attributes too, but gaining some level of control and skill in moving the body; utilizing ground based positions. Both of these clips are from tai chi guys I really like and both that influence me somewhat. One is from Mario Napoli, who has been around a while and for me tends to excel in push hands/ tai chi wrestling type stuff, the other is Nick Osipczak, a great teacher to work with.
