His hair is where he keeps his power. It's a scientific fact.

Aye right, I'll hand cash over to that moron. I'm sure the phrases:
"it doesn't work because you aren't attuned"
    and
"I can't do that, it would kill you"
would crop up with the first 30 mins.

    hit him, he's far away

Don't you have anything else to do! Attacking his hair and clothes! C'mon! Grow up. Why you don't make fun out of the other martial artist too. Shaolins have shaved heads, hahahaha, Aikido guys have skirts, Taiji pijamas and on and on.....
I have met Earl and I trained with him, and he is a supreme fighter and Taiji master and also a great person. He might look new age, but I can assure you he is not. I really think you shouldn't judge the book by its covers! If you don't understand what he is talking about, read some more...

I'm really getting tired off people bashing Earl without any real foundation. Go there, let him hit you, and then talk that fis fa-jing is crap and that acupuncture is fake.
I might not agree with everything he is saying, but I don't think I am in a position of thinking I know everything.

Show some res***pect and act as people who are ager to learn and so becoming better fighters and people. If you think Earl's got nothing to offer you, that's fine, but don't spit on him, for being what he is.

I, for one, most certainly do make fun of everything you've said here. I feel that gives me the right to make fun of Erle's hair as well. :p

I don't know, PB - obviously if he did make those claims, I'd be right behind you criticising on those grounds. But I think you might be selling him a bit short. I attended a seminar a few years ago with some real charlatans who claimed that if you sunk enough on one leg, your other leg would start moving all by itself. They really did do some very dodgy looking demos. They also prided themselves (and showed a film of it) on the fact that Erle had got up and walked out of one of their demos because he wasn't a true believer. To me it looked like he got up and walked out in justifiable disgust.

I stayed for the whole seminar to see whether their autosuggestion and peer pressure tactics could work on me, and I had to admit that for a fraction of a second I did start to almost convince myself that I could feel a tiny something like they were describing, but luckily my inner voice asked me what use that would possibly be in a fight, and it went away again. I saw it as the power of group pressure, in spite of my knowing that was what it was.

How does that fit with your signature?
Well said, Hegu, by the way :) I don't know enough about Erle to endorse him, but that also means I don't know enough about him to criticise, either.

    Ok JK,
Look at it this way. In the vid he says, that is a death touch. How does he know? Has he killed several people to find out? There are loads of the so called death touches, has he butched a small town to find out?
I would guess not, so how can he claim something is a death touch? His master told him, so then did this guy wipe out a town to find out. Probably not. So in reality he talking through his ass.

Hi PB, as I said in post 19, I don't go in for all that death touch stuff either, but that doesn't mean people should criticise his appearance or call him a "numpty" or a "moron" either. I just get a bit tired of the rampant hostility on forums, but I know that puts me in a minority. It was one reason why I was taking a bit of break, but also why I felt prompted to come back when someone seemed to be being ridiculed in a pretty unintelligent and vindictive way.

But yes, I accept your point about the death touch stuff.

Just as well as when he gets angry he grazes the point at the side of your eye with his fingers! :D :p

However, I don't think I like anything he has posted on the interporn, from his fajin to his talk of Qi. However I will give his website another read. 323 DVD titles though?

First article I look at: Fa-Jing

Taken from his 2001 article found http://www.taiji-qigong.co.uk/Articles/fa-jing.htm

The most recent letter I received was from a chap asking about fa-jing and relaying a story of some US martial arts master who was in the UK performing fa-jing on people and sending them backwards some 8 metres!

Perhaps it could be good? It's looking up, he may start to talk about these so called masters blasting students!

Firstly, fa-jing does not send people backwards. Fa-jing explodes inside of people causing them to simply shake and fall to the ground either unconscious or dead! It is PUSHING that sends people backwards some metres, not fa-jing. For instance when someone demonstrates fa-jing on a heavy bag, the bag should not move very much, perhaps a slight swing. However, the main thrust of the strike is a violent shaking of the bag with not much movement. This indicates that the strike has gone right inside of the object and has exploded inside and not on the outside, this is true fa-jing.

Here's the Earl we all know and love! Fa-jing won't make someone fall back 8 metres. Don't be daft. No, it maims and kills through the medium of internal explosion.

    I will read on however...

    hello hegu,

the thing is, lots and lots of people can hit really hard. doesn't mean they can do tjq very well. i don't think most people have a problem if he just said "look, do this and it'll really hurt someone"

the problems start when people start selling themselves and start calling to traditions, mystical (unprovable) arts and the reputations of institutes/methods to lend weight to what they are doing.

when this happens then it's fair game to call someone out.

    kind regards,

Maybe if you don't believe you should go and try him out. I understand Erle is in Wales and from his web site you can go to his or his sons lessons.

I have had dealings through his web site, i have found Erle to be helpful, and he has sent me through a lot of free material, and this was when he was in Australia. I attended one of his UK courses, which was very informative. Though i may not subscribe to all his teachings, i don't think cyber bashing is the way.

I have also noted that some of the Erle bashers on this thread openly follow instructors who have claimed things that have been found not to be true.

OK. I guess I found this forum then this thread to enquire about Earl M. as I saw an
Interesting video at a friends house. I can see 'similar' threads below that may get me some insight Ω

Maybe you could recommend yourself to Erle for testing of death touch :p
Have you read Bruce Kumar Frantzis "Power of internal martial arts", there is explanation of dim mak on page 94 and on the couple more pages...

he he he he, somehow I have a mystic feeling he wouldn't be up for that.
Funnily enough though my Tai Chi instructor did try to do what Erle did in the video and guess what nobody died. I guess his 20 odd years in Tai Chi sadly aren't enough.
