Most "karate" gi's are thin compared to the gi's we use in hapkido. It probably wouldn't last very long considering the grabs and stuff.

It depends on the school. Our standard uniform is a karate gi.

If your school does a lot of clothing grabs and throws,(similar to Judo) then your Karate Ki will most likely not last very long.

If your training is less intense then your current Ki may last.

The best thing is to ask the instructor what uniform he expects the students to wear, after all uniform means everyone being the same.

    klaasb ....

If you have a quality karate-gi .... no problem.

But I will let you wear just about anything :)
I always liked the demonstrations done in western suite best. Or think about the pictures of Choi Yong Sul in his shirt :)
