Context, creaepy guy is much worse then just creepy Russell Brand accused of rape and sexual assault So this isn't a good thing is it, What do you think could happen to make the sport cleaner, and safer for women and children. Just from recently..... It would seem we have a systematic problem... BJJ world champion arrested on multiple rape and robbery charges A Martial Arts Star Is Criticized for His Handling of Abuse Cases (Published 2021)
"The Sunday Times said all the women felt ready to speak only after being approached by reporters. The newspaper said several felt compelled to do so given Brand's newfound prominence as an online wellness influencer. Most of the women, who the Times said do not know each other, have chosen to remain anonymous" He has probably slept with more women than Wilt Chamberlain. So reporters started talking to random ex partners of his to find a few women willing to talk, and at least two of them know each other? I'm wondering if there is some gold digging mixed in here along with an actual assault. The rape center report in particular seems to line up, but even there is the possibility of someone trying to make a buck. How can you even tell these days, it's mostly he said she said. This reminds me of something on topic, Danny Masterson from that 70s show just got 30 years for the same thing, and Ashton Kutcher wrote a letter of support and is now losing status and being publicly called put. The last I checked, he's also a big name in the BJJ crowd, especially Hollywood. I think this is part of how it works. People cover for each other and enable the abuse. Could be BJJ, Hollywood, or the Catholic Church. There is a sort of celebrity status in BJJ (and many others) that probably enables the same thing. But again, I think you'll find it in any hierarchy. The easiest way to keep it safe for women and children? The rule of 3. At least 3 people in the room.
Gold diggers....... Well that's a disappointing thing to say, Noone has made any civil claims. Noone wants his money, but they do want him to have consequences to his actions.
To many high profile cases in martial arts unfortunately. It is such a difficult and exposing process to the victims, that it is unsurprising that they go unreported. Even those that go through the process, the outcome is often difficult to finish a prosecution on. We have seen recently way too many instances where a high profile person has such a large number of incidents raised through the media. I feel you are right that this is a systematic issue, which results in media campaign as there is no other way to expose someone for what they have done. Operation yew tree showed this in a huge way, and is possibly the reason we eventually see high profile people called out more often for their actions more now than before. I have unfortunately found out about many high profile people in my past, mentors, teachers, priests, who in many cases never were able to be procescuted fully due to lack of evidence. In some cases they never received a single charge. It is sickening.
Woman says Russell Brand exposed himself to her then laughed about it on Radio 2 show And now it's Indecent exposure with a recorded confession by him.
Assuming he is actually guilty sure. I'm not a big fan of adjudication through mass media, which is where this sits right now. I'm not a big fan of Brand and not defending his actions, I'm just very skeptical of the shark frenzy that is the British media. Unfortunately like most famous lotharios, he has a massive groupie following. It is not unprecedented for at least a few of them to attempt to become famous themselves, civil suit or no. That's just the reality of the "vulture culture" we live in today. People have launched whole careers having sex with a celebrity. Remember the only reason the Kardashians have a brand and media empire is because Kim made a sex tape with musician Ray J that "leaked", and she then settled with porn company Vivid for $5 million. Now she's worth over $1.5B
Gross, but not surprising for Brand. Louis C.K. was exposed (pun) doing the same thing. Unfortunately this is "Hollywood bad boy" stuff that doesn't stick. People find it gross but nobody reports it to the cops when it's a celebrity in a studio. Nobody wants to rock the boat and like I said above, people cover for one another, which leaves the person offended no place to go. I would not be surprised if Brand goes the Weinstein or Cosby or Masterson route but for that to happen (actual criminal charges), these woman have to go to the actual police and not the tabloids. He's not going to be held accountable otherwise. If it's just left in the media's hands, people forget fast and the offender walks away laughing.

Launching a career with a sex tape is one thing, but I can't think of anyone who became a household name by accusing a celebrity of raping them. As for the British press, this was a 4 year investigation, begun at the tail end of #MeToo. Libel laws are notoriously stringent here, so false and salacious accusations could have been made 4 years ago in the US. The conspiracy theorists Brand has garnered in the past 2 and a bit years are saying this is suspicious timing (because that's what Brand said). He is speaking too much truth to power, so the establishment is trying to silence him. One of his victims (the woman who said he sent cars to pick her up from school when she was 16) gave a more interesting take: that he knew this was coming so aligned himself with the right wing conspiracy crowd and got a deal to stream on Rumble. It makes sense, because the strenuous defence of him by his fans, quick to run with the conspiracy theories he hints at, is entirely predictable.
Mightily disappointed with the amount of women coming to Brand's defence. We have the whole MeToo movement highlighting just how common and endemic sexual harassment is, how badly it is handled by law enforcement/society and how women should be believed when they say it's happened to them. And yet when women come forward they get branded (pun?) as gold diggers and making it up.
And in another twist, instead of the establishment trying to crush Brand for speaking truth to power, the attorney general has misinterpreted the law to scare the press off publishing stories about Brand. Makes me wonder which Tories went to the same parties as Brand in the past 20 years...

I have to admit, I have no idea what the Tories are about, or what "GB" is. This appears to be some sort of British in-joke? Trashy British tabloid stuff? I only recently became aware of Brand's online crusade against COVID health measures. What a clown, I guess he really is that unintelligent in real life and on camera.. Now it looks like Scotland Yard is investigating Brand. https://people.com/russell-brand-scotland-yard-reviewing-new-claim-sexual-assault-7971479
There have been quite a few, especially since MeToo started. The current US president has a rape allegation out there against him (Tara Reade). Although she defected to Russia in May. "To my Russian brothers and sisters, I’m sorry right now that American elites are choosing to have such an aggressive stance". Right. You never really know someone's intentions until they are really mapped out, so I guess that's where this is now. At least, like I said, it's not just a media sensation, because that would be a tragedy if even one of these allegations was true. It needs a law enforcement eye, and now it has it.
The Tories, or Tory Party, is another name for our conservative party. GB News is our equivalent to Fox News, but far less popular.
