Brian May (Queen) and Rik Emmett (Triumph) are my favorite guitar heroes, but of the 10 listed, I think Page reigns. Miles
Yngwie Malmsteen! Eric Clapton! Me! With all 4 of mu chords that I know. But I am still learning (despite a broken finger). I voted for Stevie Vai though.
Angus Young. Any man who can play guitar, do the duck walk while wearing school clothes and still look cool is "THE" man. Boards P.S. out of the poll I will have to go for eddie van halen. If we go out of Rock then Tommy Emmanuel gets up there.
In martial arts, a claim to being better than someone can be sorted out by stepping into the ring, for musicians, the "head cutting" contest is often used, just like that Steve Vai/ralph macchio/Ry Cooder scene in Crossroads. I think that before Agutrot continues with his"beyond Hendrix" stance, a sample video should be produced of him playing a Hendrix tune. I think"Little Wing" would be appropriate. if anyone has another suggestion, let's hear it. It is possible for young musicians od this generation to become technically better musicians than those of past generations, but the respect still must be given to the pioneers, whom the new generation base their sound on.
From personal taste my pick from the list would be hendrix or blackmore. My favourites would be: Santana Jeff Beck Zappa Townsend Prince Stephen Malkmus (of Pavement, now solo) Terry Bickers (of House of Love and Levitation). I repeat this is my personal choice, before some upstart starts accusing me of being tone deaf....yadda yadda yadda tell me something i don't know
They were more Indie pop, but Peter Hook from New Order is the only guitarist I can think of that made me stand up and say "whoa! How'd he do that?"
hendrix page malmsteen vai Hendrix did not invent the electric, merely made it sing in ways it had never done before and never will. the 1st electric guitar was played by buddy holly me thinks, not sure on that but, correct me if so, and then there was the shadows, did i really say the shadowsUUUURRHHHH!!!!!!
The electric guitar was around a long time before Buddy Holly! It was invented by George Beauchamp in 1931. (It's amazing what you can learn from Mr Google!)
Eric Bell was a much better guitarist than Gary Moore in my opinion, have you heard 'The Rocker'?, his finest moment. But personally the rest pale in comparision to Hendrix.
