Bridge and roll isn't the only way to get somebody off you. When I was training BJJ we had a 350lb dude and smaller guys would get him off of them. The key was to create enough wiggle room to, well, wiggle out. It took a while, but it's totally possible. You can hip thrust quite a bit too, as all the biggest muscles in your body are activated in that movement.

And the point is what ?

Its about size and weight ....

grab person on top by testicles squeeze until they roll away in pain...

    job done

On another note, I am quite upset that they are using the Triforce as the logo for their school.

He's correct, in a sense, you probably can't bridge a much larger opponent straight to the bottom. Which is why it's only one of several mount escapes that every BJJ or MMA player knows, and pointing out that's it not a complete solution offers no meaningful "challenge" to their communities.

It's a great first move to attempt a lot of the time. You can combo it with an elbow escape to recover guard, like (for example) so:

P.S. Presumably you know this Dean? Are you making some subtle Socratic point or just wasting bandwidth?

Here's a thing...it's the trad community that has been guilty of the "he does this you do that" approach to training.
What I think BJJ does well is chain movements and transitions together so there's never an "end" to the sequence. Each thing feeds into another.
You bridge, you frame, your shrimp, etc etc. It's learning to do that fluidly and well that makes for a good escape not one "thing" in isolation.
And actually pinning the arms can make a bridge and roll work better than expected if you "lat-pulldown" the pinned arms as you bridge and roll and the person on top has their weight on their arms.

Meh, I use to think like that. If he wants to see effective BJJ just watch the old Gracie in Action tapes.

Mr. Butthurt from a made-up ninja style can't even spell jiu-jitsu properly and expects to get taken seriously? That's like Ero-Sennin asking me to take his Declaration of Rebellion (he spells it "Independence") seriously when he can't spell colour properly. :p

Anyway, I don't see the point in this video. For sport or self defence. My wife is 115 lb and won't face a 350 lb dude (or woman) in competition. And just the other day we were drilling at home, I got top mount, pinned her arms and asked what she was gonna do now.

She (somehow) slipped her arms out of her jacket (so I'm just pinning her sleeves), and fish-hooked my mouth with one hand and slipping the wet index finger of the other hand into my ear (called a "wet willy" in the UK). :(

Wait, wait wait. Getting someone over double your weight off you is difficult? Really?

He basically asked for like an average 14 year old to shift someone heavier than Roy Nelson off of them. I don't doubt I couldn't bridge and roll him off me. I doubt I could move at all. But I doubt he could do it either.

The only down side to this is that bjj is the one guilty of starting this sort of stuff with their "size is irrelevant" marketing.

And another thing...this fatass is sat on you pinning your arms.
    You can't bridge him off.
    Now what?
What's HE gonna do? Drop flob in your eyes like some big brother?
    Maybe he'd do a headbutt?
But I doubt someone that big will have the room to pin effectively AND headbutt. He's gonna have to move those arms eventually.

    Jesus..the irony.
A woman can't bridge and roll but he can use one arm to magically push someone off.
    What a clown.
