And then I wondered why he lived in Brighton and lurked round toilets, thought he in the way I would speak of in hushed, Gothic voices.

I like totally agree. Mr Hoff had obviously grown enormously between the two and The Te made much more sense. I can remember the little parables in both of them though and quote them often. There is a lot of similar stuff in Shingon.
