I don't think clicking a mouse is a good enough measurement of your reaction time.

    Not really fair

But us chunners have an advantage - chi sao is 8 times quicker than the normal watch, interpret, parry...

it's more about the person's physical condition, then actual training. true, training does decrease it by about a few hundredths, but no real biggie when fighting.

and for the wise crack who put down 0.01 - 0.10, shame on you. :D

No - stickyhands - fighting is autopilot for us there's no thinking, just doing if we've trained right. Hence the blindfold tricks, etc... touch reflexes are almost an order of magnitude faster - this is why wing chun owns at the very close range.

Everybody Wing Chun tonite. But still, CLF owns all!!!

Isn't there a better way to gauge your reaction time. Has anyone ever picked an opponent's move really quickly during sparring but then just stood there and did nothing. Once this guy threw a tornado kick at me, I kinda saw it coming, but I was frozen (of course because I didn't move back like he expected the contact made was with his thigh and not his foot). Why is it that some of us just don't react at all on certain occaasions?

that's your reaction, not reaction time. there's a difference. reaction time is basically the time it takes for signals to reach the target muscle, but your brain needs to know what to do in order for you to take action. so even if you react with f1 like speed, you're nothing without proper knowledge of what to do.

i agree though, clf (i assume you mean choy li fut) is a pretty effective art.

    .196...
relaxation + focus seems to help, being tense does not-
Try sitting it in various ways / mindsets and compare your scores..

yea that's how i got my 0.185 score. i'm trying to get a mindset like i'm sparring to gauge my sparring reaction time, and i'm hovering at the 0.19 - 0.21 mark. my damn sensei got 0.156...
