I don't do karate but during sparring in JJJ a while back I ran behind my opponent and kicked him in the ass. He was so slow I had to take the opportunity and to date has been my favourite sparring moment.

    That's hysterical!

I've had some fun sparring moments, and it's hard to pick a favorite. One might be landing a perfect uppercut on a super-fast 3rd Dan who was otherwise kicking my mule. :D

ive landed a perfect uppercut to a kids ribs and he slowed down soo much cause i was having a bit of trouble. I then got 3 points after being down 4-2

My favorite moment was when I landed for the first time a spinning hook kick.

    I have threee of them:

1: Tournament when I kicked a BB (I was a red at the time) in the head. I tried to hit him and he jumped behind me. Because a friend of mine liked to do the same move, I knew exactly what he was planning to do. So before he could come up from behind with a ridge hand, I spun around and hook kicked him in the head, taking him off his feet. He was ok, but it felt good to me.

2: I pulled a technique on a fellow student (who is now my gf :D ) that we were taught that day in class. A hook kick round kick combo. I hooked, she backed up and dodged the kick, but I didn't set down my foot and when she came back, I round kicked her.

3: Kicking my instructor in the head. The first hit I got on him that really supprised him. I did a jump round kick to his head. After words, ofcourse, he complimented me, then I got a quick short punch to the chest and knew one hit doesn't mean much in a tag match.

When I got my butt kicked very hard...... Oh wait that happens every time when i fight. :bang: I end up on the ground looking like a beached whale sunbathing.

  8. My first time group sparring. I'd never done anything like that in any other school I'd visited. We were encouraged to have a partner in the melee, so I chose mine, and we plowed into everybody back to back. No way to move back, just push kicking people out your way and punching your way out and back into the tangle.

Then I ended up in a clearing and seen two blackbelts fighting it out, so I dashed up attempting to flying side kick both of them, but never made it and only hit one before they both turned on me with roundhouse kicks and sent me running to look for easier prey.

Sadly this isn't one of mine, but at one karate competition one of the guys on my team got swept and lost his balance in the course of a match. The other guy followed him in to finish him off but, as he fell down, dude number one managed to put his foot on the other guy's chest and twang him over backwards (tomoenage). He got penalised for it as sacrifice throws aren't generally allowed in karate compos, but you could tell he totally did it on instinct without thinking and it looked cool!

Why did that lead to a disqualification? Did he do it deliberately?

he did it on purpose. Because he and his friend thought it was funny so he got disqualififed. One of my friends said that he heard one of the kids tell the guy that he had beaten me. Too bad i beat that kids friend

About 1984 and I get squarely sidekicked.

Flying backwards I bounced into one of the folded trampolines from a previous class at the gym.

It had enough tension still for a bit of spring, so I involuntarily bounced back out to face the guy again :D Secret ninja or what? :D

1985 and a bunch of attractive young ladies are watching class. As I spar with my opponent in front of me and them to my left, my concentration is, of course, mainly on to my left...

I find the real purpose of the belt when my Instructor uses it to drag my foetal body off the sparring area, after my opponent has kicked me soundly in the wobbly danglies

I was 15 years old and just got my blue belt. Do to the lack of competitors at the tournament I had to fight in the advanced division aswell as in the men's division. There was this supper quick red belt there. Plus he has Korean so I knew I was going to get my **** kick( i know, I know. I was only 15)

To make a long story short. After 5 fights, I won my division virtually untouched. He had a lot of speed, but I had more power and the reach. Plus evertime he kicked it was off his right leg so it was easy to time his attacks

pretty much pounding on this higher rank (orange) when i was a yellow belt. was during my grading. i landed a nice back kick to his chest, sent him backtracking till he hit a wall. his instructor yelled at him during the match, asking him why he was getting beat up by a lower rank. was funny.

I was a blue belt at the time, I think. . . I was sparring a high-ranking student in my class who was well-known for having quick hands and feet, and the whole class was watching. My opponant did a jump spin crescent kick, and I don't even remember seeing his foot move. I instinctively dropped down to about an inch from the floor. His foot whizzed over my head, from what I was told. Everyone ooo'd and aaaah'd when it happened, and I absolutely loved the positive attention.

Looking back on it, dropping down certainly wasn't the best of counters, but it really was something. :D

training with my 3rd Dan instructor. I used to have a bad habit of dropping my hand near my face. He would remind me by kicking me in the head. I don't remember my rank at the time but we were sparring and he caught me pretty good on the jaw and my knees buckled. I straightened back up and said "dropped my hand didn't I?" he just laughed said "yep" and we continued. I don't drop that hand anymore!!
