Hi guys, In Hakarac Boxing we have X- Factor Sparring Sessions. These consists of: - Normal sparring then turn the lights out (must continue sparring) - Between furniture - Protecting a drunk mate or a partner - Two onto one (with alot of verbalization) - Grabbing clothing or headguard to facilitate strikes - Chaos (where one person is a disciplined fighter and the other in not) Does anyone else do similar sparring seesions or has other versions or variations? This type of sparring brings an element of reality for the street.
This "boxing" sounds a lot more like self defence class to me. ive never heard of Hakarac, what is it? If its one of those modern things thats just a fancy name for self defense then im not happy about boxing being in the title. Because it certainly doesnt sound like boxing. But i could be wrong, what is it?
Yeah I was thinking that. Fighting what you cant see in front and around you is a bit dangerous, unless controlled. I read that some BJJ'ers grapple blindfolded but thats on a mat with their members surrounding them, so its very controlled.
Hakarac Boxing is a blend between Western Boxing, Chinese Boxing (Wing Chun), Malay Boxing (Silat) and Thai Boxing. Its a hands only martial boxing system. We compete regularly in Amateur Boxing with state and national titles. X-Factor sparring drills is a way of incorporating our boxing skills to deal with scenarious that we might encounter outside the ring. - Sparring with the lights out might be encountered when someone breaks into your house at night. - Sparring between furniture could be encountered in defending youself in a variety of settings (restaurant, home, hotels, etc..) If anyone else does these types of drills or variations off please comment and share.
