I have for the last few days been experiencing a sharp pain in my wrist, and in true MAP H&F tradition, I thought maybe you'd like to help me work out what it is and if I should prepare for an amputation.

The area I am feeling the pain is in the pink box and the arrow represents the motion that causes me pain.

Edit - On closer inspection it also hurts if I pull my wrist back

there's any number of things you could've done, tehre's a lot of nerves & muscle & other soft tissue that run through the carpal tunnel (labeled palmar carpel ligament). rest is a good first suggestion.

i would see the doctor asap. get him to refer you to a hand specialist, or someone along those lines.

It sounds like RSI (Repetitive strain Injury), but it commonly a typist problem due to repetitive motion of typing and moving mouse in a direction that involves twisting wrist to inappropriate direction. I'm experiencing it too, but it because I do a lot of work which requires me to type and moving mouse repetitively :bang:

In my case, not only my wrist that feel the pain, but I also feel power loss of my forearms. When it happen, I just take a rest and massage my forearms alternately.

Sounds like something keyboard related. Do you spend a lot of time on a keyboard?

There's too many possibilties on what it could be from the description you gave. Are you having any feeling of "pins and needles", does it go numb, etc. Your best bet as stated is go see a specialist.

At the very least, go see an ART specialist.

There no real numbness or pins and needles, although when it is bad, I struggle to make a fist.

My golfer's elbow/tendonitis started off hurting in that area.

Just rest, and if it persists, doctors.

Hopefully its nothing to worry about :)

hmm, I was having tendon-esque problems with my elbow last week, so they could be connected.

Struggle to make a fist? that's exactly what I'm experiencing right now. When the pain comes, usually followed by power loss of my forearms which results in struggling to make a fist. Now I'm working in strengthening my wrist and my forearms to minimize the symptoms.
