Click bait bit worth it to see the best of all time in action so smooth no one better even against a world class wrestler
Askren does have a bit of a submission game. But yeah, typical wrestler vs beej. Wrestler forward, head up, back straight, drive = guillotine and pretty pointless hooks or holding onto limbs that does nothing. (I feel your pain Askren...I feel it!!)
Askren is a lot better now, but he faired about as well as anyone does against Garcia pound for pound he has to be the best ever, so innovative and dominated a stacked weight class for years whilst doing very well in the absolutes against some real monsters
That was poetry in motion, beautiful to watch. his transitions were amazing. I would give my right eye for a skill set like this.
He is the uncrowned (kinda) King. Him and GSP is the ultimate dream match. His Joe Rogan interview was great, his One FC stuff is now all free to watch. Just a shame that about 3yrs ago there was a seminar booked in London which got cancelled last minute
I was actually talking about Marcello's grappling Although re reading what I put it does apply equally to both Askrems wrestling for mma is as innovative as Garcia's bjj
Do we all agree that - wrestling/Judo has better take down skill than BJJ has, and - BJJ has better ground skill than wrestling/Judo has? If we do agree, is there anything left for discussion?
Then I would make a case for CACC having a comparable arsenal to BJJ, albeit with a thinner talent pool
Are Muay Thai's stand up grappling skills (clinch) comparable to Wrestling and Judo's stand up? my uneducated opinion is, Thai's clinch has got strikes, which makes it far more effective in MMA or a Real life situation?
Yes and no, the clinch it does is great, but it's limited in the takedown etc that are allowed, and therefore what they can defend against, a few things MT foes, will leave you at a massive disadvantage, if you don't know the weaknesses. That said, it's really all about what you enjoy enough to train in.
No body actually mentioned strikes though john was talking about takedowns and ground not mma and strikes
