I'm going to Brisbane soon and interested in taking up Karate but really not sure which one to go to Kyokushin or Shotokan. I've heard a lot about Kyokushin but from what I see on Youtube the training is probably going to be tough as I am not sure I have great physical condition for Karate. I'm more worried about the conditioning of the joints and bones, is it too late to do at age of 30?

no, you're not too old, there are probably people who have started kyokushin after their fifties.
as far as style goes, check out the schools yourself, and see which one you happen to like the most, or which sensei you connect more with.
in any case, if you're concerned, talk to the kyokushin sensei about it, see what he has to say on the matter, then give it a try and see how your body responds.

    cheers

    G'day Sting King,

Mate...at 30 you're still a spring chicken. I took up Karate last year at age 40 and have never felt better!!

If your after Kyokushin (full contact knock-down karate), have at look at this http://www.fieldkyokushin.com/

    For Shotokan, try here http://www.jkaa.com.au/action-main-main-37-QLD

And you can always have a look at Goju as well http://www.agkk.com.au/

All good styles with their own positives/negatives. Just make sure you look around and dont be afraid to ask questions!

As for your conditioning (or lack thereof :)), dont worry about it too much as you'll find that your body will respond to the training fairly quickly. You will be surprised what your body is capable of!

    Osu...

    Hi Sting King,
Definitely not too old, I started at 45 and still going strong 3 years later. If you are on the South side of Bris-vegas have a look www.renbukan.com, a ****o ryu based style. Karatedo has become a way of life for me and I am so glad I bit the bullet and made a start all be it later in life than many others.
