I'm planning on buying a staff, for kung fu class. I'd like a rather large (almost 6 foot) heavy black wooden staff. Should I buy it online, or in Chinatown, or what? (Sorry I have no idea, I've never bought a weapon before)!
Where ever you can get a good price, a 6ft staff is called a Bo in Japanese MA so you may see them online as Bo and not staffs. I don't think it cares what its called though, my Bo is made of Chinese Oak.
Are there any Martial Arts shops in your area? They generally sell them. (I can't suggest any names, because English ones wouldn't be much use to you!) Try Mr Google.
doesn't your school sell them? or they should at least have affiliations with stores that do sell them in the area...
Karate Depot Nice online martial arts supplier. It'd probably be cheaper if you went and bought one yourself though. Ask your sifu if there are any local shops you could go to. Chinatown probably would have them.
