    Wanting a Rapier

I'm after swords in general but I want true forged swords. Most I find are wall hangers and not fit to fight with. The rapier I'm after because I found an instructor for that sword. Not fencing as the sport we all know and love, but true Itilian/French rapier style sword work.

I have a friend (I know, who you! Have a friend?! Whoa are you kidding!) who studied fencing in college. He wanted me to go with him when he decided to start his studies again. I followed along and found it interesting, but not for me. Much the same reason I didn't like Kendo. Too rigid in approch and concepts, and made for competing sports. While I could adapt the skills to true weapon usage it would require more time than I really want to devote. Especially when I can just find an instructor who will teach me what I want in the first place.

I've actualy waited to take up madern sport fencing to ehlp with my point control. Lot sof backyard and SCA shinai fighitng tens to make you a very edge oriented fighter. Even thought My opiion of modrn sport fencing is getter worse constatnyl cuz of the things ive seenand heard about the state of the sport Id still try it out , well actually Id rather try Classical fencing, it still treats the tool slike they were wepaons not flimsy picese of wire to smack with.
So who or where are you going to be getting you training from?
My group told me to hold off on buy a rapier until i know what I want exactly. thr are lot difereing blade lenghts weights and hilt designs.
