I was a huge Rush fan as well - early Rush. From Moving Pictures onwards I kind of lost interest with them. I like my rock bands to rock! Well, let's see.... 1920's - 1950's all the old blues guys - Howling Wolf, Robert Johnson, et al. Elvis was pretty cool. 1960's - man, where would one start? Beatles, Stones, Kinks, The Who, Yardbirds, Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Free... 1970's - Led Zeppelin, Ten Years After, Jeff Beck, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Bad Company, Pink Floyd, Peter Frampton, Humble Pie, Budgie, Hawkwind, Deep Purple, Lynryd Skynyrd, Rory Gallagher, Jonny Winter, Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Whitesnake, Gillan, Van Halen, Scorpions, Fairport Convention.... and so on, and so on.... 1980's - erm.... er.... I quite liked Bon Jovi, and Guns n' Roses of course. 1990's - Nirvana, Oasis, Radiohead. Pearljam were pretty cool. 2000's... well... erm... Bruce Forsyth's band - Nickleback- they had a good track out - like THAT chick would ever be dating that en-chinned OAP, lol... erm... er... them that did "I'm gonna get free..." that was cool. Slash's new band - the Slashers, no - what is it - Velvet Revolver - had a couple of good tracks.
1960's and 70's - The Who 80's - there was good music in the 80's? 90's - there was rock music in the 90's? 00's - The Derek Trucks Band (not purely a rock band, but a band with a cross-genre sound that has a good deal of blues and rock influence, especially in their earlier albums). Seriously, I do listen to some 80's and 90's bands (rock and otherwise), but I'm having a hard time pulling any out of my memory that stand out as a favorite. There was good rock music, but nowhere near as much as in the 60's and 70's. I'm tempted to pick the Derek Trucks Band for the 90's, too, but while Trucks was an amazing guitar virtuoso on his first few albums, the band really came into its own in the 00's)
1950's: Big Bopperr 1960's: The Kinks 1970's: Black Sabbath/ The Cramps (How do I choose between those two - both giants of the decade) 1980's: The Sisters of Mercy (lineup with Wayne, Craig, Andrew and Doktor Avalance)/Einstürzende Neubauten 1990's: NIN 2000's: The Divine Comedy
1960's: The Stooges/ The Doors 1970's: The Misfits/ The Adicts/ Black Flag/ Dead Kennedys 1980's: The Dead Milkmen/ The Subhumans 1990's: Choking Victim 2000's: Morning Glory/Leftover Crack So many choices...
