"Battlestar Galactica" from 1979. On disk.

I was single-digits in age when it aired on tv, and I never watched it. I was aware of it, of course, and even played with the toys (the Cylon fighter ships were way cooler than the human's Viper ship). I remember that the tv show was ridiculously popular, but at that age I never got into it because I was more interested in short story arcs, like those of the "A Team" and "Dukes of Hazard." Or better yet, a super-hero cartoon!

But I'm liking it now. Of course the special effects and the sets are dated. And their haircuts and make-up don't look at like that of (a) soldiers, or (b) refugees running for their lives. But I'm enjoying the story and the nostalgia. :)

I haven't watched the original, but I've seen the 2004 series. Are they significantly different from each other, aside from special effect quality?

Yes, they have a completely different series arc!

Glen larson did buck Rogers afterwards with props etc from BSG OS, it's got a similar vibe, the BSG 1980 series is OKish too, if you liked the original series.

Yes, they are different. Same broad concept: sneak attack by Cylons against all 12 colonies simultaneously, one battleship survives, one human betrays his species, the battleship is protecting a fleet of civilian ships on a one-way flight to Earth. And the names of many main characters are the same.

But the Cylons are very different, and all of the details are different. For instance, in the old show, everybody knows very early about Baltar's betrayal. He's not on the Galatica and he's not a scientist.

Watching the fifth season of "Doctor Who" again, this time in English.
I'm still glad, I can admit that I do like what Matt Smith makes out of this role; I was concerned not to like him (after all he made Tennant go away ;) I had the same thought about Tennant before him :D ).
Not surprising, but: He is wayyyyyy better when watching in English, than he is in German.

A little embarrassed, but I've watched many episodes of "Supergirl" now. Apart from Calista Flockhart's surprisingly endearing acting in this role, it's not a very good show. But gosh darn it, I want to know where they go with other characters! After Flash and Green Arrow and Gotham (not to mention all the Marvel shows), I'm accustomed to the introduction of multiple comic-book characters, and I want to see that.

Even though it's really not a good show.

My Guest Needs No Introduction... (with David Letterman)

Letterman sporting his mega hobo beard, returns to his interviewing ways. And the 1st ep is an hour with Barak Obama.

I tell you what, I'm not one to be gripped by much political stuff. But it's easily seen as to why this man is so loved by his (and other) Nations.

Black Lightening. Only one episode so far, but first impressions are better than the Marvel shows.

Beautiful visuals accompanied by Neil Degrasse Tyson's excellent storytelling make this a series well worth watching for even the most casual science buff.

I wonder if the general populace gave more attention to programming like this instead of Keeping up with the Kardashians and I'm a Celebrity, half of our social problems wouldn't exist.

Its going to be on Fox too, which may explain the low view figures last time around!

I quit Supergirl before the season ended. It sucks.

And finished the 1978-79 "Battlestar Galatica." That was such a good show. What a shame that it was cancelled for being too expensive. :(

I'm still working through "Sherlock," which is *fantastic*, but in between those episodes I caught the first two "Nikita" with Maggie Q. I'm not sure where it's going, and the cool stuff is interspersed with incredulous stuff (and that's even with me willing to suspend some level of belief for the sake of television), but I'll try one more episode just because she's insanely pretty. ::hearts::

I have to pick up on Star Trek, but didn't have the nerves so far.

Watched a few episodes of Doctor Who in English (so much more fun than dubbed!) and am now watching the first episode with the next Doctor.
Considering how annoyed I was when Matt Smith took over it's funny how I now think it's sad, that he's gone :D

I do wonder what Peter Capaldi will make out of it though.
I'm quite sure that his repeated line right now of "I am Scottish" will be wayyyy better in English as well

    I still hate changes anyway.
Chris Ecclestone back and I will be happy, despite a change ;)

Right now I'm enjoying Strax :D

I'm picking my way through 'Jean Claude Van Johnson' over on Amazon Prime. I watched the pilot ages ago and absolutely loved it, and hoped that it would be picked up for a full series. Now that series is here I'm finding it not as enjoyable as I had hoped, and, so far (I'm still only part way through it), it doesn't seem to live up to the potential of the pilot.

Loved the final few episodes of 'Star Trek: Discovery' on Netflix, and 'The Orville' is just brilliant.

All of Friends just been cleared. I've actually never watched them in order, it was always at the mercy of Channel 4 etc.
And most of the things I do remember all occured within the 1st few seasons.

It hasn't aged well. It was mostly in the background anyway, and taking away adverts etc, each ep was about 18mins.

    Agents of SHIELD
I love how each series re-invents itself. However, with the latest series, I don't know where they're going to go after, since they've go so far "out there".

I'm really into "Frontier" right now.

It's about the history of the Canadian fur trade in the 1700's, as well as the Hudson's Bay Company and all the other factions vying for control of the industry.

It stars Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones. Declan Harp, in my opinion, is way more hardcore than Khal Drogo.
