...your funeral. I'm not being morbid here, i've just hit that stage of my life where making a will might be a good idea (no, i've not dissed the local gangsters, i'm just thinking about my family ) anyway, driving home tonight, i realised the most important thing to sort out would be what tunes to entertain the (great number of ) people who will turn out to see me off (or make sure i'm really gone, i'm not sure which ). i'd like three tracks playing; 1. The Doors - Waiting for the Sun (before the service) 2. Banco de Gaia - Last Train to Lhasa (in the middle somewhere) 3. Hawkwind - Golden Void (as they send me down the corridor of flame) AND NO HYMNS!! over to you, what tunes do want people to remember you by?
Only the Good Die Young - Iron Maiden Highway to Hell - AC/DC *just in case Enter Sandman - Metallica
The Calling - Wherever You Will Go Queen - The Show Must Go On Lynryd Skynyrd - Free Bird I hope I get 3 funerals....
Yeah, agree with you on the Hymns side of things. Only 2 songs that I would like played at my funeral are Live Forever by Oasis (Ironic?lol), and Time of your Life by Green Day. The latter song was played at my best mates funeral when we were 16, and was his favourite song, so would love that to played at mine
queen- who wants to live for ever? rolling stones - paint it black and then have the best of the doors on repeat.
Samuel Barbers Adagio for strings - Haunting piece of music. And just for giggles - My Way - but it has to be the Sex Pistols Version.
I feel the need first to high five you for the banco shout out. Finally someone else that has heard of them. I would have 3 really long pieces of classical music. Would be bant!
you ever seen them live? awsome!! ------------------- one of the most emotional funerals i've been to was for a guy i knew in his thirties. his mates were in the beer garden of a village pub and he thought he'd entertain them by flying past on his m'bike at about 140mph. car pulled out and he ended up going through a tree right in front of them. Wiped out instantly. A few hundred bikers followed the hearse to the crem (with a police escort) and before the service, Levellers "one way of life" was played. there wasn't a dry eye in the place.
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah The Doors - The End (live) Bob Dylan - Blowin in the wind ... or maybe mix it with something more fun like Manic Street Preachers - Motown Junk Zeppelin - take your damn pick, lol. Ozzy - Crazy Train
Although slighly morose, excellent choice. Goodbye Beautiful Day - Beat&Path Sail Away - Celtic Women Why Does This Always Happen To Me - Weird Al (just for the irony)
levellers-one way, i agree with that u2 electrical storm-it's one of my al time favorites. no other reason
One of my memories from my days working security and protection, Glasgow Barrowlands, hundreds of pseudo crusties all wearing a combination of one or more from, combat trousers, baggy jumper, hooded hemp top/smock thingies, overdyed army parka and big boots all singing along to that with the levellers. I saw the irony even if they didnt. At my funeral, shine on you crazy diamond by pink floyd, and maybe surf ride to oblivion by guanno batz, my GF wants aint nobody here but us chickens by louis jordan.
The Appleseed Cast - Marigold & Patchwork Cavatina - John Williams Christie Front Drive - Saturday Mineral - Unfinished Or for a little chuckle - Green Day - Ha Ha You're Dead
