Just noticed this thread is over 20 years old! I'm not a huge music-listener, but recently I've been liking some of Keith Urban's work. It started with hearing this track in a supermarket:
Lawson Rollins - Infinite Chill Lawson is one of my fave guitarist and a true modern master. I have a great love of the Flamenco Chill Genre so this is an instant classic in my collection. Featuring tracks from previous LR CD's, re-mixed by Chill master Shahin Shahida, and adding some new instruments/vocals by worldwide artists. This is a great recording to just Chill and relax to.
The only Urban Cd I have is Defying Gravity. Might want to check it out if you haven't already. For the most part Urban is a little too Pop Country for me, but DG is a good recording.
Rolling Stones - Forty Licks( Disc II) The second half of this career spanning 2 disc set. Brown sugar, Beast of burden, Angie, Shattered, Fool to cry, Emotional rescue, It's only Rock and Roll. What an awesome career and catalog of hits.
My taste went so far out it ended up in a coldwave/minimalwave genre. BTW, no. Not back but hello non the less.
Boston - Boston One of the best debut records ever.....one of the best records ever. I believe this is still the best selling debut record ever(not positive of that). I remember being in 6th grade when this album came out...More than a feeling sounded so fresh, even after hearing it 100 times on the radio. More than a feeling, Peace of mind, Foreplay/ Long time, Rock & Roll band, Hitch a ride Listening to this CD made listen online to some of Third Stage. Great songs...We're ready, Cant you say, Cool the engines, Amanda.
It was a great album, and I can say that now, and thought that when if first came out..... but growing up near the city of Boston (I was in high school), when the first and second Boston albums came out....I got so sick of them I actually threw the Boston cassette I had out the window of my car when a date said. "Oh, you have Boston" I said no I don't, and out the window it went. At that time you could be listening to a radio station that was playing Boston, switch to another station to get away from Boston, only to find they too were playing Boston....repeat several times, same result, turn off radio or switch to a cassette. This went on for months Literally took me about 30 years before I could listen to Boston again and appreciate the music again.. And yes, I can once again say, it is a great album
Use to like Foreigner, but for some reason never got any of their albums...just bought a greatest hit CD
The Rolling Stones - 12 more licks Even though I have 40 licks( a pretty complete greatest hits package) and Steel Wheels there was still a few classic Stones songs I needed in my collection. I had someone mix and burn this cd for me and now I feel complete. Can't you hear me knocking, Monkey man, 2000 light years from home, She's so cold, Hang fire, Little t & a, She was hot, Waiting on a friend, One shot(to the body), Dandelion, Midnight rambler, Heartbreaker.
David Bowie - Best Of Bowie(Disc 1) Bowie changed his sound and appearance more than anyone i can think of. The cool thing about it is that every change produced pure gold. This 2-disc set is in chronological order so disc is the Late 60's - early 80's. Space oddity, Changes, Suffragette city, Panic in Detroit, Fame, Golden years. This is the better of the 2 discs in my opinion.
Romeo Must Die - The Album Rented this movie as soon as it was available. I was watching all the Jet Li movies at the time. I really liked the music in the movie so a few years later i found this cd in a bargain rack somewhere and could not resist. It's basically a great mix tape of hip-hop/r&b featuring some top names of the time. Try again, Are you feeling me(Aaliyah), Rose in a concrete world(Joe), Pump the brakes(Dave Hollister), Perfect man(Destiny's child), Revival(Non-A-Miss).
David Bowie - Best of Bowie(Disc 2) 2nd half of an amazing 2-disc collection. This one picks it up around 1981 or so. Ashes to ashes, Fashion, Let's dance, China girl, Under pressure(w/Queen), This is not America(w/Pat Metheny Group), Under the God(Tin Machine), Absolute beginners.
Linda Ronstadt - Greatest Hits 1976 Compilation of early career hits. Linda was very instrumental in defining the Southern California Country Rock sound that was very prevelant of that era. Some of these songs charted on the Country as well as Rock Billboard charts. You're no good, Desperado, That'll be the day, Different drum, When will I be loved, Heatwave. Listening to Linda belt out Heatwave still puts chills down my spine.
