I get the mathematical brilliance, but it rarely moves me to be honest. Each to their own I have a soft spot for music that is almost out of control, and this, for me, is the Jimi Hendrix of classical violin. Think Voodoo Chile the full version, not the short single. For anyone who doesn't know it, treat your ears to 25 minutes of soaring beauty and wild passion; but you have to listen to the whole thing and let it work its magic Bruch: 1. I'm a Hendrix fan, back in my youth, when I played guitar, the garage band I was in played Hey Joe.... but take it from me, I was never a Jimi Hendrix. and that Violin piece was awesome
The Allman Brothers Band - A Decade Of Hits 1969-1979 Pioneers of the Southern Rock genre, ABB did a masterful job of blending Rock, Blues, Country, and even some elements of Jazz in their music. Great songs, musicianship, vocals, and masters of the long, drawn out instrumental jam. Ramblin' man, Midnight rider, Melissa, Jessica, Blue sky, One way out, Whipping post.
Devon Allman - Turquoise Son of Greg makes some great soulful music on his first and only(I believe) solo cd. Don't set me free, Time machine, Homesick, Into the darkness, When I left home. Also a nice Bluesy cover of Stop draggin' my heart around W/Samantha Fish.
Well, its halloween here in the USA and I am feeling a bit nostalgic. So I'm listening to the "full" version of a song that was synonyms with Halloween back in the 70s, in High School, in Massachusetts... and of course the requisite musical artist at Halloween
Pillar - Where Do We Go From Here 2004 release from Christian Rock band that brings the Rock. Not only popular on the Christian charts Pillar also had some mainstream success as well. Hypnotized, Bring me down, Rewind, Frontline, One thing.
The Allman Betts Band - Down To The River Carrying on the legacy of the legendary family band can be no easy task but these 2nd generation musicians/singers/songwriters pull it off. Devon Allman(son of Greg), Duane Betts(son of Dickey), and Berry Oakley Jr.(son of Berry Oakley Sr. of course) as well as several other band members create a sound of their own while staying true to the original AB sound. Great recording. All night, Down to the river, Autumn Breeze, Southern accents, Good ol' days.
The Allman Betts Band - Bless Your Heart As much as I liked their first CD, this one is twice as good. Full of great songs and a couple extended instrumental jams. The family tradition continues. Pale horse rider, Ashes of my lovers, Savannah's dream, Southern rain, Magnolia road, The doctor's daughter.
Pillar - For The Love Of The Game Another great set of songs by Christian Rockers Pillar. Pillar once again managed crossover success on both the Christian Rock charts as well as Mainstream charts. Turn it up, Reckless youth, State of emergency, For the love of the game, Smiling down, Get back.
A Tribute To Pink Floyd - Various Artists What I like about this CD is that each track features an all-star line-up of artists. 10 classic Floyd tracks re-done by great classic rock artists. Money(tommy shaw, edgar winter, etc), Young lust(glenn hughes, tony franklin, ansley dunbar), Have a cigar(bobby kimball, bruce kulick, mike porcarro), Breathe(robin mccauley, jeff baxter, eric singer).
