The rule I live by is that "incoming fire has the right of way." I got that from Murhpy's rules of Combat.
Another one from Murphy: "Tracers work both ways." Okay, okay, machine guns aren't part of kobudo. How about the obvious: "blades kill." (I'm thinking of the kama and sai, if you sharpened the working ends.)
