Depends on the school and if they're in a larger organization.

Some (many) schools use one variation or another of the old English Masters of Defense ranks. Usually:
    1. Scholar
    2. Free Scholar
    3. Provost
    4. Master

Some use a similar ranking system adapted from the Guild (or modern Union) system:
    1. Apprentice
    2. Journeyman
    3. Master

Some just straight up use modern Fencing ranks, particularly those studying later period fencing with verifiable lineages.

How rank is denoted on training gear differs too. Might be different colored, shirts, colored arm bands, etc. I've heard some use sashes. It is pretty common for a full black training uniform or a black fencing jacket to be reserved only for those holding a Master certification. My personal opinion is that black fencing jackets should be reserved to only those with a Master certification from a recognized modern fencing certifying body or within the confines of such, which would include some schools in which the Master has a verifiable linage to 19th Century fencing (there are some).

Some groups don't bother with much in the way of external symbols of rank and may only differentiate by "students" and "instructors" (or maybe further differentiating "Coach" and "Master")

Finally, maybe they don't care what your "rank" is and don't have them in their school/system, instead, preferring to let provable skill and experience speak.

    Peace favor your sword,
