Portuguese for "anything goes", Vale Tudo is one of the progenitors of current mixed martial arts events such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Vale Tudo events are still held in South America and Eastern Europe/Russia, where the political pressure that watered down the UFC is nonexistent.
Also - many MMA people have adipted the term "Vale Tudo" to describe what they teach - as the term "Mixed Martial Arta" is well - crap
vale tudo is illegal in brazil now, i believe. but terry, i think he was saying that using vale tudo and mma interchangeably is crap.
How many vale tudo schools acrually teach with the model of "anything goes"? I'd imagine they really don't.
