Can anyone help looking for kickboxing tournaments in north UK. Don't know the correct term but wanting competition rules of no kicks below waist height. Am I been to traditional and old fashioned asking this question.??
Ignore the fools who advocate kicking below the belt, they're only jealous they can't comb other peoples' hair with their feet. How far north are you thinking, dazbow? The WKC is a decent organisation which holds their UK-based tourneys in Manchester: http://www.worldkickboxingcouncil.com/comps.htm Some other useful links: http://www.uknas.com/event-calendar.php http://www.sportsmartialart.com/events.html http://britishtaekwondocouncil.org/events/ All of the above use a "no low kicks" rule set in one form or another, but some permit foot sweeps. Generally, the terms you're looking for are "semi contact" and "point fighting."
If you're after getting match ups for full contact kickboxing then "ax forum" is a good site for that. And Van Zandt, full contact also has a no leg kick rule (while allowing foot sweeps). Normally low leg comes under K1 rules. At least it has on most of the shows I've watched. Semi and light continuos tend to be of the non ring variety. Though not always the case.
This is all good info thanks everyone I'm in Yorkshire, so the manchester tournaments close enough. Been back kickboxing nearly year and half. I stoped 12 years ago when my sons was born, it's great to be back training.
