It's not often we get a chance to do this in Scotland with weights but Sunday evening saw Barbecue Madness in Paisley's Barshaw park.

6 men and 3 woman a pile of kettlebells, a barbecue and a big hill. A social and a training event.

    Here's me [IMG]

    And here's the kettlebells

    The training.
Circuits in pairs. Swings, double swings or squats on the heaviest bells, clean and push on the lighter ones, bodyweight rows on a rope pulley attached to a tree, feet on the tree and pull yourself up. And how long on each exercise?
One of the pairs had to run down the hill to the fence and back up. The rest of us had to keep going until they got back.

After a barbecue, Indian sweets and kids everywhere.

Then farmers walk the KBs back to the car park :)

That's how I rounded off my weekend.

Oh and in the park - you are allowed to drop the weight so you can push yourself a little bit more :)

You're training outside in Scotland, yet you don't do any Highland Games events?

    For shame!

Sounds cool (training outside in Scotland it probably was).

Any video clips available for the members workout thread?

I don't live in the highlands.

Sorry no video clips of me. Maybe next time.

The Games are actually pretty big in PA, I've had the opportunity to try a few of the events out and they're tough. Almost made a caber a hood ornament on my friend's pickup the first time I tried one.

Training outside is definitely fun though. I'll often break out the weights in either my driveway or my backyard and go for it. Definitely a lot more fun than a gym.

Awesome! Nothing like having a good kettle bell workout outside!

I need to come and visit sometime, haven't seen your instructor since Norm's course.

I always train outside. It's good stuff.
