A gym is a very different place to a dojan, I think your idea on the social circle is probably correct
Sorry for the delay folks... been hectic in work. Ok so here are some papers that might interest people regarding aggression in martial arts: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...jKLDN5lU4qIm6Q http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15058873 http://www.researchgate.net/publica...odern_martial_arts_training_on_aggressiveness http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/j.2161-1912.2011.tb00139.x/abstract And there are a few more. Some conclusions (from the first 3 papers) point to the fact that modern, competitive martial arts have a negative influence on aggression (kids become more aggressive). The studies suggest more traditional training, in a positive prosocial environment, can help lower aggression (or not increase it).
