Anyone a fan of thrillers here on M.A.P ?

Books by Frederick Forsyth and Robert Van Ludlum for starters and others, the books I have read of these authours have been superb. Anyone got any recommendations or just books they read and they liked ?

I thought we could have a little discussion going in here in regards to thrillers/spy novels :woo:

    butcher wing Oi, Fatso!

Have read all the Forsyth books (i prefer his older stuff tbh) most of of the Ludlum books (his later stuff '92 onwards was appalling) and Eric Van Lustbader's Ninja series (up to book 3 was great). Once all the psychic bollocks appeared I lost interest. Jian & Shan (Jake Maroc series) were good as were French Kiss, Black heart and Zero. Lustbader does go a bit overboard with the sex scenes but the rest of the book makes up for it.
Also look out for David Morrell's books: Brotherhood trilogy, Fifth Profession, Assumed Identity, Extreme Denial. All good stuff.

I would also recommend tracking down the books by Marc Olden. Superb stuff!

Not a big fan of the mainstream stuff at present (got fed up with riechs, P Cornwell, gerritsen etc)

James Ellroy's American Tabloid trilogy is well worth the time. IMO
