It appears that there is a call to add Ecky Thump as an Olympic sport. Now with myself and Mitch at the helm we should be guaranteed at least two gold medals. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...83652780316.692614.16694135315&type=1&theater

I don't have the slightest notion of what half the stuff in this thread means. Must be the American/English language barrier.
A lot of the <<'up north>> comments are a stereotypical parody/echo of gruff northern England (Lancashire and Yorkshire mostly) accents; as manifest in an old comedy show 'The Goodies' from the 1970s (when the music was good, but the fashion was crap) - which is not as well known as Monty Python.
Generally speaking Northern English (Lancashire and Yorkshire) accents drop the word 'of' and singular numerical quantities in everyday speech to contract to as simple an expression as possible e.g. Home Counties English (Surrey, Sussex etc) :- 'One pint of beer' 'Up North (Lancashire, Yorkshire):- 'Pint beer' This then feeds into the 'plain speaking' and 'no nonsense' stereotypes of Northern Englanders.
'Black pudding' is a basic sausage type meal (cant remember whats in it, fortunately its a damm long time since I ate one) from Lancashire I think.
