We're going to open a virtual MAP facility and it'll be the best in the world. What do we need and what can we offer that sets us apart from the rest? We'll have martial arts, health and fitness, weights and also physio and rehab, plus anything else you think necessary. We could cover kids classes, classes for mums and dads while the kids are at school, classes for the elderly, or wheelchair bound or whatever else we want. Maybe we should establish why people train. The thrill of competition The desire to be good at something (personal challenge) The sheer enjoyment sport gives Release built up stress and tension Improve self image and self confidence Improve fitness To help prevent disease The social element Challenging personal limits Before we get into what we'll teach at our virtual gym, let's deal with the facility. What sets us apart from the rest? Money is no object. You're building the facility of your dreams. I'll kick off with the disabled access. We have ramps for access, full width doors for wheelchairs, proper disabled showers and changing rooms, braille signs and adapted equipment. What next?
A full restaurant that can cater to a variety of diets. The tables are well spaced and everyone has arm room. And a designated selfie area, so the people that are actually training can get on with it instead of having to work around a pouting plank.
a meditation garden for the more anti-stress inclined, possibly offering sports and thai massage as well. The restaurant Void brought up as well lodgings so you can stay on site and train as much as you want
A large portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II in the foyer. An interrogation suite for when we have to talk to anyone displaying mutinous behaviours. And a gallows around the back.
Clean changing room for getting in and out of uniforms. Mats, of course, for the grapplers. A ring and/or an octagon. A nice hardwood floor for the capoeiristas.
Some stuff should be easy, we shouldn't set the bar too high. Redcoat would never be able to reach his drink. Mitch
Soft toilet paper or kittens? Could explain why most decent toilets here also have a "phone". Oh...Both indoor and outdoor training areas for those nice sunny days. And I demand the gym is located next to a beach for those really nice sunny days. Perhaps a field of really long grass or some kind of crop, you know so we can practice the ginga in an authentic way!
On a more serious note. A room or area for crash mats and acrobatic/gymnastic equipment and bars. Be good for the capoeiristas, trickers and those of us that do body weight stuff.
I'd settle for a place with classes that start after 7:30. You know...so I can actually get there after work and do some training.
