Anyone got a clip of the old quest Gyokko Ryu vid? That's good IIRC

    What I like:
Hatsumi seems to be having fun.
Interesting principles laid out by him.
Also, some americans who show their techniques are pretty good (those who don't have the belly of a whale).

Sensei's. opening line ( paraphrased) "I first came here 21 yrs ago, time passes fast, but those I see here haven't changed"
Passed off as a compliment, but did he really mean skill?

I enjoy Wright Shihan's bojutsu here.

is this somehow related to the kaminaga shigemi koto ryu demo? same venue, same shaky camera handling.

when and where was this filmed? was there a joint embu by the kaminaga group and the genbukan? just curious.

This and the Koto ryu clip are from an embu taikai commemorating the twentieth anniversary of Ueno Takashi's passing. The Genbukan group showed some fascinating things with wonderful skills.

Perhaps. Did you thought skill was lacking with most of the participants?
I thought a disproportionate amount of the 10th dans were out of shape, which I consider to be unforgivable. However, that young guy with the brown ponytail was pretty good!
(I don't mean RVD, I mean the guy in the black t-shirt.)

Since it's obviously a pretty long video, could you provide the specific times of the examples where you thought they were pretty good?

    Well...it's the weekend :)

Here is a great video of monumental....something

Reminds me of some sort of Monty Python sketch. May it brighten your day

    Just bizarre.

I wonder if his next video will be of him chopping down the tallest tree in the forest withhhhh....a herring?

The few issues I had with these weren't enough to make them bad. If he keeps putting out stuff like this,

Here is a great short video of Hatsumi sensei showing some aspects of Kasumi Dori, from Takagi Yoshin Ryu:

Yup, it's a good one, and sensei actually looks like he's teaching, rather than just demonstrating.
