But you would prefer to say that someone had said this completely wrong adn stupid thing. On top of that you use it as an example in a discussion to make your point, but now your point is lost because your statement has no backing.
Respect your elders In my opinion, it should be looked at from a more Confucian side: respecting your elders is only one half of the relationship. It is your duty to listen to the older and more experienced so that you can learn by their example. Their example is the second part: their duty is to provide the good role model and help guide their juniors. There is nothing wrong with questioning elders and/or looking to others for advice in different situations. But, the basic rule is to respect, listen to, and obey your seniors and proved a good role model and guide for your juniors.
