I have a question about Takenouchi Ryu? How many people train in this ryu and where in the Saitama or Tokyo area can you find training.
Try e-budo.com thats were the koryu jujutsu people hang around. Most people in this sub-forum are involved with modern, westernised systems.
Thanks SGT MAJOR I just figured if anyone trained in the art they would recognize the kanji, rather than people doing flyby internet search. SGT Major can you move this thread to the Koryu Bujutsu forum please.
The more I read about Tekenouchi Ryu the more I am wanting to find a nice quiet dojo to train in. If anyone can help me with finding a dojo to contact near Kasukabe city in Saitama that would be great. Or if anyone knows of a good resource either in Japanese or English for finding a Takenouchi Ryu dojo to contact would be cool too. Any of the schools is fine with me a branch school sokeke or the main soke schools are fine. My Google-fu is weak. Thanks
couldnt resist it yep one of you at one end of the Kings road and the other one. Charles Mack of the British Takenouchi ryu Society at the other end of the KIngs Road, oddly enough called the worlds end kindest j
If anybody is interested, here is a list of places outside of Japan were Takeuchi ryu is practiced, all are Takeuchi ryu Bitchuden Shoufukan, run by Anna Seabourne, in Yorkshire, England. As I understand it she is the highest qualified outside of Japan. Gyofukan in Idaho, USA, run by Anthony Abry Seifukan, run by Wayne Muromoto in Hawaii, USA.
As Anthony is currently in Japan, I am not sure the Dojo is still "open" as such, although it may well be... And there is a group in Vancouver as well...Alexander Kask teaching..The Shoufukan (Different Kanji, 翔 instead of 松 ). http://www.shofukan.ca/ And I believe there was also a bloke in San Francisco who was teaching? Did Anna ask to have the info put up here? Regards..
I now have a small Takenouchi Ryu study group in Quito, Ecuador: http://quito-ecuador.wix.com/takenouchiryu
