Hey guys, Ive never trained in Systema..but am interested in it. I came across this clip, and was wondering if this is Ryabko Systema, or the Other type. (The name escapes me at the moment)

Maybe I'm being flippant, but I can't help but wonder if the Russians borrowed contemporary wushu the same way they borrowed judo...

    Not borrowed, "improved".

    The vid tittle says:

Система РРБ. Школа Сибирский казак - Казачья шашка

    Systema RRB
(RRB might mean Ruskaya Rukapashnaya Borba - Russian Hand to Hand Combat).

School of Siberian Cossacks - Cossack Shashka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shashka)

Systema just means System, there are quite a few around from what I have see. Ryabko's being one of them.

AFAIK the guy trains with Ryabko. He runs a school in Siberia I think

I trained some sword with Mikhail in Moscow a few years back. Interesting work, quite simple and "direct". Compared with the Chinese stuff I'd done before it was closer to the sabre than the jian - then again this was sabre work. Mikhail also has a collection of medieaval type swords and similar though Ive not seen any work with those outside of some brief clips
