i didn't even know it was st georges day. probably because this country is so worried about upsetting the minority of foreign imigrants it doesn't even bother to celebrate the fact properly! the people running this country suck!
i used to like St Georges day in the Army, It was a big holiday with a parade followed by boozing, like St Paddys without the Shamrocks.
Wow nothing like using a happy celebration thread to trot out what appear to be your own racist personal agendas eh? :bang: anyhow.... Happy St. Georges day to all who celebrate it.
I still think this should be a national holiday. Next year, I'm taking St Georges day off work - Who's with me?!
Although I agree that this thread should be a celebratory one. Davefly does have a point! In my local area the councils have in the past objected to flying the English Flag for fear of upsetting certain groups! According to them it could be seen as racist, flying you own national flag I don’t think his comments were racist. It’s becoming a sad fact that in this country any show of national pride is then construed as having racists elements. Heck I’m sure Birmingham Council were looking at banning things such as natvitity scenes in stores at Christmas time and changing how Christmas holidays are advertised so as not to appear too Christian , It’s bloody Christmas for God Sake! Anyway Rant over A Belated happy St Georges day Folks, spent mine doing DIY!!
Hmmm... I think I owe davefly76 an apology. That sucks. The idiots that sit on your council (not the apology....) So who elects such goofballs to councils anyhow? It's exactly that kind of stuff that causes racist backlashes. How lame is that?
thanks spookyFBI that's basically what i was getting at but haven't had a chance to reply (damn work keeps getting in the way ) apology accepted slipthejab
It's when the Queen Mother knighted Boy George for upholding the values the Empire was built upon. I thought everyone knew that. Sheesh.
